I’ve spent too much of my seven years of experience in Bitcoin listening to what I thought were the best Bitcoin podcasts out there.
I waded through many podcasts filled with seemingly honest discussion of useless vaporware and outright scams when I just wanted to learn about Bitcoin.
- Tracking bananas on the blockchain?
- High yields from rocketship protocols?
- Celebrities selling JPEGs to unwitting netizens?
I’ve heard it all.
My Twitter friends and I used those PTSD-inducing experiences to put together this list of the best Bitcoin podcasts. My goal is to help you learn about Bitcoin while avoiding scams and being entertained along the way.
There are TONS of great Bitcoin podcasts, but there are even more terrible ones that claim to be “Bitcoin” podcasts.
I’ve picked out a few of the most real, hearty Bitcoin podcasts covering everything from current events to technical developments and philosophical opining so you can get up to speed without wasting time and money.
Plus, I put a bonus at the end that will have your hands on Bitcoin in no time.
Enjoy!
The Top Bitcoin Podcasts in 2023
What Bitcoin Did
If you are a total beginner to Bitcoin and the economic, financial, and technical worlds around it, you need to check out “What Bitcoin Did”. Host Peter McCormack started the show in 2017 and steadily grew it into one of the most popular podcasts in the space. Peter pumps out a high-quality episode twice a week, bringing a mix of updates on bitcoin, current events, and fundamental analyses of Bitcoin and the wider economy.
Each episode is an interview with a key industry player, with Peter doing a spectacular job of making every conversation understandable for the average person. McCormack is knowledgeable and opinionated, making for an engaging listen that provides invaluable insight into the ever-evolving world of bitcoin.
With over 500 episodes already under its belt and a series for Bitcoin beginners, this show offers something for everyone in a package that’s easy to digest. As one reviewer on Apple Podcasts put it, “What Bitcoin Did is the glass of water for taking your orange pill.”
You can listen to What Bitcoin Did on their website below or on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, or Fountain .
Tales from the Crypt
For those who want to stay up-to-date on all things bitcoin, ‘Tales from the Crypt’ is a must-listen. Host and Bitcoin venture capitalist Marty Bent interviews a diverse set of builders and thinkers in Bitcoin, including the likes of human rights advocate Alex Gladstein and wallet developer NVK. Bringing a keen read on current events, Marty takes his conversations in unexpected directions leading guests to cover topics you won’t hear discussed in other interviews.
For listeners who want to dive deep into the world of Bitcoin and find connections with the political and financial happenings of the day, Tales from the Crypt is an excellent podcast. Personally, I’ve been following Bitcoin since 2016 – and I still find most TFTC episodes incredibly informative.
You can listen to Tales from the Crypt below on Libsyn or find it as “TFTC: A Bitcoin Podcast” on Apple, Spotify, or Fountain . And, you can contact Marty through VIDA.
The Investors Podcast Network: Bitcoin Fundamentals
Host Preston Pysh of The Investors Podcast Network fell down the Bitcoin rabbit hole gradually and publicly on his podcast We Study Billionaires. Eventually, he began a sub-series called Bitcoin Fundamentals.
We Study Billionaires is no peanuts podcast. Preston already hit 100 million downloads to date. Preston Pysh makes Bitcoin accessible to his massive audience through his grounded analysis of macroeconomics.
Topics on the Bitcoin Fundamentals episodes of We Study Billionaires include why the US Fed and Treasury need Bitcoin, the aftershocks of the FTX implosion, and global debt spirals. Preston and his guests speak financial lingo – making this podcast a perfect place to start for traditional investors curious about Bitcoin.
You can listen to The Bitcoin Fundamentals episodes of We Study Billionaires by clicking the button below. Or, find the episode names starting with “BTC” here on Apple, Spotify, Preston’s YouTube Channel, or Fountain . And, you can also contact Preston through VIDA.
Stephan Livera Podcast
The Stephan Livera podcast brings host Stephan’s extensive knowledge and interest in economics and libertarian ideas to the world of Bitcoin. Stephan is also the Managing Director of Swan Bitcoin International and a partner at Bitcoiner Ventures, giving him deep insight into current developments in the Bitcoin world. Stephan’s podcast dives into all aspects of Bitcoin, from technical details like Bitcoin’s replace-by-fee debate to the societal context Bitcoin lives in today. Stephan also explores topics tangential to Bitcoin in the world of self-sovereignty and freedom tech, like the idea of free private cities.
Through his explanations of the Austrian school of economics, Stephan helped me to make sense of my unanswered questions about economic theory which had been lingering since my first economics class in high school. Stephan produced this podcast episode to give an overview of Austrian economics to his listeners.
You can listen to the Stephan Livera podcast below or on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, or Fountain . Be sure to follow Stephan on Twitter.
Bitcoin Rapid-Fire with John Vallis
Despite the title’s implication, Bitcoin Rapid-Fire episodes usually clock in longer than the average feature-length movie at almost two hours long. However, John never fails to keep the listener engaged, as he’s incredibly adept at finding what is interesting about his guests and following that thread. If you’re interested in the implications of a sound money and decentralized timestamping system (Bitcoin!) on society, John’s conversations will pull you in.
John interviews some of the most interesting people in Bitcoin, from Tip who creates Bitcoin videos on TikTok (including original rap songs) to Rick who found Bitcoin and psychedelics critical in turning his life around. Philosophical discussions shoot off in every direction on Bitcoin Rapid-Fire, so don’t expect to quit an episode halfway through. This one is worthy of binging!
You can listen to Bitcoin Rapid-Fire with John Vallis below or on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, or Fountain . Plus, you can message John on VIDA.
Citadel Dispatch
Citadel Dispatch from privacy and freedom tech advocate Matt Odell is as much a community as a podcast. Matt has no ads or sponsors, keeping the show funded only by his audience – as a result, he can go deep on very technical or controversial discussions with his guests. Citadel Dispatch frequently covers topics like financial privacy, free speech, bitcoin mining, and the growing bitcoin circular economy.
Citadel Dispatch is a great show for Bitcoiners wanting to acquire deep knowledge on Bitcoin’s ongoing technical developments, from wallets to privacy tech. You can also join Citadel Dispatch’s chat on Matrix or Telegram to ask questions of guests during the live show.
You can listen to Citadel Dispatch below or on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, Twitch, BitcoinTV, and Fountain .
Rabbit Hole Recap
Rabbit Hole Recap is a weekly news show hosted by two juggernauts of the Bitcoin world, both with their own solo podcasts on this list: Marty Bent and Matt Odell. Marty and Matt go beyond price action and fluff news to bring you analysis of trends in Bitcoin businesses, privacy tech, regulatory stances, technical Bitcoin updates and more. With over 230 episodes at the time of writing, the hosts have their coverage down to a science. Their podcasts are regularly nearly two hours long – like this Christmas rip.
You can listen to Rabbit Hole Recap below on Spotify, or here on Apple, BitcoinTV, or Fountain . On Twitter you can follow the show, Marty Bent, and Matt Odell.
Hell Money Podcast
Hell Money Podcast brings deep knowledge and eclectic conversation together into one of the most engaging Bitcoin podcasts. The trope in the Bitcoin world over the past few years has been that everyone and their mother has a Bitcoin podcast, with many of them failing to rise above the crowd. Launched in 2022, Hell Money Podcast is a notable exception.
Hosts Erin and Casey play off each other wonderfully, combining scientific precision with philosophical exploration. Both hosts embody this yin and yang within themselves: Erin can explain the natal chart of Bitcoin as deftly as she can identify an unknown body in space (she’s pursuing a doctorate in Planetary Science), and Casey can discuss libertarian theory as effortlessly as he can lead a technical BitDevs meetup. The ability of both hosts to flex between the worlds of art and science mean their explanations of concepts like Bitcoin hardware wallets or Bitcoin mining make sense no matter how your mind works. This is personally one of my favorite podcasts in Bitcoin, and they are relentlessly consistent – releasing a new episode every week. Don’t miss it!
You can listen to Hell Money Podcast below or on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, or Fountain . Follow them on Twitter @hellmoneypod.
Builders in Bitcoin
For those interested in the businesses growing up to service the Bitcoin ecosystem, Bitkite from the Builders in Bitcoin podcast has you covered. Bitkite, or Rod, has his fingers in every corner of the Bitcoin world: from mining to media to investing and even co-working. Rod founded the Bitcoin Park co-working and event space in Nashville along with Matt Odell, where the Bitcoin community holds in-person Bitcoin meetups, workshops, and small conferences. The Builders in Bitcoin podcast interviews builders from across the Bitcoin space, from the founder of Mempool.space to the VP of Strategy for Bitcoin mining company Griid to the creator of the SeedSigner signing device.
While Rod started this podcast in 2022, his extensive experience and connections in the Bitcoin world means he cuts right to the meat of the matter with his guests. Whether you’re a veteran of the Bitcoin space or a newbie, you’ll find the conversations on Builders in Bitcoin highly engaging. If you like listening to host Rod’s voice, be sure to also check out his Bitcoin mining podcast POD256.
You can listen to Builders in Bitcoin below on YouTube, but also on Apple, Spotify, BitcoinTV, and Fountain . Be sure to follow @BuildersinBTC on Twitter as well.
Bitcoin Audible
Bitcoin Audible brings the best in Bitcoin’s written content into audio form through the soothing voice of Guy Swann. As the “most well read person in Bitcoin”, Guy reads pieces aloud and adds his own thoughts after the piece. Through Bitcoin Audible, you can dive into long reads like How the IMF and World Bank Repress Poor Countries by Alex Gladstein while on your commute or mowing the lawn.
Bitcoin Audible covers topics far and wide within the Bitcoin space, and Guy does an incredible job picking the best writing in Bitcoin to showcase on the podcast. Yours truly was even read aloud on Bitcoin Audible on the topic of hill peoples in Southeast Asia!
You can listen to Bitcoin Audible on their site below or on Spotify, Apple, or Fountain .
The Bitcoin Standard Podcast
The Bitcoin Podcast hosted by Saifedean Ammous features weekly interviews with people from all over the Bitcoin space. The host is famous for his book The Bitcoin Standard, in which he argues for Bitcoin’s potential to become the premiere global store of value. Saifedean believes that not only will Bitcoin become the most popular reserve asset, but that it can also bring vast improvements over our current monetary and financial system.
Given Saifedean’s deep research into Bitcoin and its context, he and his guests alway deliver concise analogies like the similarity between yield and a mousetrap. This pod is great for those with a basic knowledge of Bitcoin and a curiosity about the economic thinking around it. If you distrust governments and their plans, you’ll find Saifedean even more compelling.
For those who understand the technical aspects of Bitcoin but are curious about its context and purpose, Saifedean’s second book The Fiat Standard explains our current monetary and financial system in terms of Bitcoin’s operation.
You can listen to The Bitcoin Standard Podcast below or on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, or Fountain .
Simply Bitcoin
If you’re looking for daily breaking news in Bitcoin, check out the Simply Bitcoin podcast. Hosted by Nico (@BITVOLT7 on Twitter) and Opti (@My_Livin_Truth on Twitter) from Monday through Saturday live at 12:15pm EST, the hosts bring plenty of energy to the news of the day. In my eyes, Simply Bitcoin specializes in memes – covering the latest ideas going viral in people’s minds. This cultural take on Bitcoin is unique and fascinating as the focus of a podcast. The hosts also interview Bitcoiners on various topics, like starting a business in Bitcoin.
If you’re looking for a fast track to understanding some of the ‘inside jokes’ of Bitcoin’s world, Simply Bitcoin is your invitation to the room. The door is open, but only you can walk through!
You can listen to the Simply Bitcoin podcast below or on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, and Fountain .
What is Money? Show
While unfortunately not affiliated with this website, the “What is Money?” Show explores not only Bitcoin but many alternative ways of thinking. With host Robert Breedlove’s mission to shine light on the corruption of money, it’s no wonder that the ideas explored on his podcast often go against mainstream narratives. You’ll find Robert takes a balanced approach with all of his guests as they go down rabbit holes as diverse as the societal origins of violence, Bitcoin privacy, and replacements for alcohol.
When you’re looking to delve into philosophy on your Bitcoin journey, the “What Is Money?” Show is your perfect companion.
You can listen to the “What is Money?” Show below or on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, or Fountain . You can also contact Robert on VIDA.

My list of top Bitcoin podcasts is staying snappy and tight (sarcasm) – with just thirteen above! However, there are surely more out there that deserve a listen.

What about other podcasts I’ve heard of?
You may have heard of some other podcasts, such as The Pomp Podcast, Unconfirmed/Unchained, CoinDesk Podcast Network, Bankless and more. While the content of these occasionally focuses on Bitcoin, these podcasts too often stray into the world of crypto scams or promote Proof of Stake protocols which simply mimic the problematic mechanics of the traditional financial and monetary system.
No matter what podcast you’re listening to, do plenty of research before taking action on anything you hear recommended – whether that’s an exchange, wallet, yield service or anything else you’re buying or trusting with your assets or personal information. You are solely responsible for what you do with your money, so choose wisely!
What about my BONUS?
Okay, here it is: Two new apps that destroy the ad-driven content business model we all hate.
These apps give fans the power to support content creators directly with micropayments over Bitcoin’s Lightning Network. Content creators can finally earn real money from their listeners.
That means content creators work for YOU, the audience, instead of sponsors and ad-networks. More aligned incentives = better content.
The kicker? These apps make Bitcoin dead simple to use.
Fountain App
First is Fountain. Load up just a few bucks in Fountain to stream money to your favorite podcasters while you listen. Micropayments are made in satoshis (AKA sats), each equal to 1 one-hundred-millionth of a full bitcoin. At the time of writing, $1 is around 4,500 sats!
Fountain is simple to use, so you have no excuse to delay supporting great content a few sats at a time. Get Started.
VIDA App
The second is VIDA, which supports streaming sats to creators when they go live. Sign up to get a free link page (like LinkTree, but better) where you can charge bitcoin (satoshis) for calls and messages.
You can find many of the shows mentioned in this list on both of these platforms.
Go Forth and Listen!
While you listen, beware of your own impatience. It’s not uncommon to feel like you know less about Bitcoin the more you learn. Don’t leave your path of learning because you feel you’re not traveling fast enough – it takes patience and time to find the right angle that resonates with you.
It took me years of tepid curiosity about Bitcoin to start working in Bitcoin, and now I write about Bitcoin almost full time to share my evolving understanding! Plant the seed of your Bitcoin knowledge today, because the best day to start was yesterday.
